The parcel is surrounded by İsmail Şenoğlu Street in the south, Nur Street in the east, and Yolcu Sokak in the north. The registered building, which is estimated to have been built between 1870-80, belongs to the Yelkencioğlu family, one of the important families of Kandıra. The house, which is still preserved as a historical monument by the grandchildren of Niyazi Yelkencioğlu, the elder of the Yelkencioğlu family, one of the notables and merchants of Kocaeli, was used as a hospital and headquarters during the enemy occupation of Kandıra by the British in 1918 and by the Greeks in 1920. During the War of Independence, it became the guesthouse of the Kuvay-i Milliye (This information was taken from the book Niyazi Yelkencioğlu Memoirs of the War of Independence).
